General Questions

What is EvoPatterns?

EvoPatterns is an online library of pre-cut pattern files for paint protection film (clear bra) and window tint. We provide downloadable templates for thousands of vehicle models, which you can cut on your own plotter. In short, we’re an alternative to traditional PPF/tint pattern software – offering individual pattern files and flexible subscriptions without the usual hassles.

What is a “precut pattern” for PPF or tint?

A precut pattern is a design file that outlines the exact shape of a vehicle part (like a hood, fender, or window) so that film can be cut to that shape in advance. Instead of trimming film directly on the car, you cut the film using our pattern on a plotter, then apply it. This ensures a precise fit and saves time and material during installation.

Do you offer a free sample or trial pattern?

Yes! We have a Free Pattern available for download. It’s a complimentary PPF/tint pattern file that you can test on your plotter and film to see the quality and fit for yourself. Check out our Free Pattern page to get your sample file (no purchase needed and no strings attached).

Ordering & Plans

How do I purchase a pattern file?

Buying a pattern is easy. Just browse or search for the vehicle model you need, select the specific kit or part pattern, and add it to your cart. Proceed through the checkout process to complete payment. (You’ll need to create a free account to manage your downloads.) Once payment is confirmed, the download link for your file will be available immediately in your account and via email.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) as well as PayPal. All transactions are processed securely via our payment gateway. If you encounter any payment issues, contact our support team and we’ll assist promptly.

Do I need a subscription to use EvoPatterns?

No – subscriptions are optional. You can absolutely use EvoPatterns on a pay-per-pattern basis with no recurring fees. However, we do offer subscription plans that give unlimited access to our library for a flat rate (which can be very cost-effective if you need many patterns). Check our Compare Plans page for details on individual purchases vs. subscription benefits.

Will I have access to re-download files I purchased?

Yes. Once you’ve purchased a pattern, it remains available in your account’s download library. You can log in anytime and re-download past purchases from the Downloads section of your account. This is useful if you need to cut the pattern again in the future or if you lost the original file.

Can I use one purchased pattern for multiple vehicles of the same model?

Absolutely. When you buy a pattern file, you’re free to use it on as many vehicles of that model as you want. For example, if you purchase a 2022 Toyota Camry hood pattern, you can cut and install that pattern on every 2022 Camry that comes through your shop. There’s no need to pay again for each use. (Just remember, the file itself shouldn’t be shared outside your business – see our Terms for license details.)

Pattern Files & Compatibility

In what format are the pattern files provided?

We provide patterns in several vector file formats to ensure compatibility with a wide range of software and plotters. Typically, each download includes formats like .ai (Adobe Illustrator), .cdr (CorelDRAW), .eps, .plt (common plotter format), and sometimes .svg or .dxf. You can choose the format that works best for your workflow. All formats contain the same design, so you only need to use the one that fits your preferred cutting setup.

Will EvoPatterns files work with my plotter/cutter?

Yes. Our files are designed to be universal. If your plotter can read one of the common vector or HPGL-based formats (like AI, EPS, PLT, etc.), you can use our patterns. This covers practically all modern plotters from brands like Graphtec, Roland, Summa, Mimaki, GCC, USCutter, Silhouette, and more. You might need to import the file into your cutter’s software or open it in a program like Illustrator and then send to plotter, but there’s no proprietary trick – it’s straightforward. EvoPatterns files are compatible with any plotter given the right format.

Do I need special software to cut the patterns?

You’ll need some cutting software that works with your plotter – usually the software that comes with your plotter or a design program that can send data to it. The good news is our files work with all major programs: for example, Roland CutStudio, Graphtec Studio, Silhouette Studio, LightHQ, SignMaster, etc., as well as general design software like CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator (with cutting plugin). You do not need any dedicated “EvoPatterns” software. Just use your existing setup, import our file, and cut.

Can I edit or customize the pattern files?

Yes. The pattern files are fully editable vectors. You can open them in software like Illustrator or CorelDRAW if you need to make slight adjustments (for instance, adding a logo cutout, extending a edge for a custom wrap, or splitting a large piece into smaller sections). However, our patterns are ready to use as-is, so modifications shouldn’t be necessary for fit. If you do alter the design, double-check dimensions to ensure the pattern still aligns correctly with the vehicle.

How accurate are the patterns? Will I need to trim film on the car?

Our patterns are extremely accurate to factory specifications and panel shapes. In most cases, you will not need to do any on-car trimming. We build in small overlaps or reliefs where appropriate (for example, wrapping edges around a hood, or avoiding going too deep into panel gaps). As long as you align the film correctly during install, the pre-cut piece should fit beautifully. On rare occasions (due to vehicle production variances or an installer’s personal preference), you might make a tiny relief cut or adjustment during installation, but generally our goal is a true “cut, apply, and done” fit with no modifications required.

Support & Policies

What if I can’t find the pattern I need in your catalog?

If a pattern you need isn’t available, you have options: first, double-check spelling and model year (our search is literal). If it’s truly not there, you can submit a Pattern Request via our Pattern Request page. We’ll either locate it in our archives or create it for you. This service is part of our commitment to a complete library – there’s no extra charge to request; you’ll just purchase the pattern normally once it’s ready. We typically fulfill new pattern requests within a few business days.

What is your refund policy?

Due to the digital nature of our products, all sales are generally final. Once you’ve downloaded a pattern file, it can’t be “returned.” However, we absolutely stand by our product quality. If you encounter a technical issue with a file (e.g., a download problem or file corruption) or find that a pattern was mis-described, we will make it right – whether that means fixing the file, providing a correct replacement, or issuing a refund/credit in special cases. Please see our detailed Refund Policy page for more information. Our goal is your satisfaction – if something isn’t right, reach out and we’ll work with you on a solution.

What if a pattern doesn’t fit as expected?

First, ensure you selected the correct vehicle year, trim, and part (even vehicles with the same name can have different shapes across generations or submodels). If the pattern still seems off, stop the installation and contact us. We may ask for photos of the misfit area to diagnose the issue. In most cases, we can provide guidance (e.g., confirm if a piece is meant to tuck under or if a certain alignment technique is needed) or update the pattern if we identify an error. Our success is tied to your success, so we’re here to support you if any pattern doesn’t meet expectations.

How can I get support if I have issues or questions?

You can contact our support team via the Contact Us page, send an email to support@evopatterns.com, or use the live chat on our website (during business hours). We pride ourselves on quick, helpful customer service. Whether you need help downloading a file, have a question about compatibility, or even need advice on which patterns to choose for a specific job, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help make your experience with EvoPatterns smooth and successful.

Do you offer training on installing PPF or tint?

While we don’t offer formal in-person training classes, we provide many resources to help you learn and improve. Our blog contains guides and tips for installation techniques. We also share tutorial videos and how-tos that cover common installation challenges. If you’re new to using pre-cut kits, a great way to start is by using our free sample pattern on a practice hood or window to get a feel for alignment and application. For more comprehensive hands-on training, we recommend seeking workshops or certifications from film manufacturers or industry training programs, then using EvoPatterns to supply the patterns for your practical work.
